Oxford 27th December

We travelled from Rhymney to Apsley on 26th December. Because we had a bit of time to spare we decided to take it leisurely and maybe visit somewhere on the way. For this reason we stopped at Oxford.

Instead of taking the M4 from Cardiff to London, we instead went north and then across via the A40. This is a much prettier drive and more entertaining for the kids to see. It was not too much time difference and we had time to spare.

Oxford is lovely and somewhere we will have to re-visit when the weather is better and we have more time. We simply stopped to wander around the shops, Leigh went bargain hunting in the sales, and then went for lunch.

Oxford seems stuffed with nice buildings, need to return and take more photos.

The drive to Apsley afterwards was less pleasant, it was dark by the time we reached the M40, the weather had turned quite nasty and decided a deluge would be best for Markie to drive in with heavy traffic and ignorant drivers.

We got to our destination for 18:00 – after a short issue with a lack of area knowledge, a wonky SatNav understanding and a diversion to Watford. We then met up with Janey for the evening meal before popping the kids in bed and watching Fringe (the wifi in the hotel was too expensive and we were too tired to work).
