Saturday 2nd February
Today we went for a drive to the Lake District once more. It was predicted to be a clear, if crisp, day and the first day that Leigh has felt well enough to walk a little since being in hospital with pneumonia.
Fearing that if we went too far she would get over tired, and wanting to stay close to the car and warm environment, I decided to stay at a single location. For that reason I chose to go to the Visitor Centre, park and activity centre at Brockhole which sits on the shore of Lake Windermere.
Brockhole is a wonderful place, aside from the fantastic views it has a number of activities for kids of many ages. The other excellent element is that a number of the activities are free. You can use the woodland and lake shore walks, tree-top adventure path, parks and soft play all for no cost. For a small charge there is an aerial slide, predators (seasonal) display and Lake Cruises.
The cafe as Brockhole is moderately priced for the Lakes and many of the food items are locally sourced and the staff in the shop are very helpful.
Needless to say I took a heap of images of which some of them are attached, click on them to see them larger.
